Deana Jean Emory Obituary

Deana Jean McClelland Emory, affectionately known as Deana to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Southeast Georgia Health Center in Brunswick, GA. Born on June 15, 1957, in Griffin, GA, Deana was a beacon of love and creativity throughout her 68 years of life.

Raised in Jackson, Deana's early years were filled with the joys of small-town life. She graduated from Jackson High School in the class of 1974, where she was known for her kind spirit and artistic talents. Deana's passion for nature led her to a fulfilling career as a self-employed landscaper and gardener, a vocation she dedicated over 40 years to, transforming spaces with her green thumb and creative vision.

Deana's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her beloved son, Clayton Laurs Emory, who was the light of her life. Her siblings, Joey McClelland, Cissy Worley (Jackie), Susan Pratt (Ed), and half-sister Joyce (Carey) Mosteller, all share fond memories of their sister's loving and kind nature. Deana's many nieces and nephews will also hold dear the special moments they shared with their aunt. She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Anne Patrick McClelland and Joe McClelland, Sr., whose values and love shaped Deana into the remarkable woman she was.

Deana's life on St. Simons Island was marked by her deep appreciation for the beauty of the coastal landscape. Her gardens were not just a display of her horticultural expertise but also a sanctuary for all who visited. Her creative spirit extended beyond her work, touching the lives of those around her with her warmth and generosity.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2026, beginning at 10 AM at the Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Deana's life will be held at 11 AM following the visitation, her final resting place will be in the family lot at Jackson City Cemetery.
